A Buddhist is one who practices Buddhism.

In AD 2000 there were some 366 million Buddhists (Center for Study of Global Christianity), having risen from 67 million in 1900 and likely continuing to rise to 456 million by AD 2025. The precise number of Buddhists is open to debate, since the precise definition of a Buddhist is debatable. Many Westerners practice some form of Buddhism or have been influenced by Buddhism, but whether these nominal practitioners should be counted is unclear.
