[edit] Brief description

CLC International (formerly Christian Literature Crusade)

  • is an evangelical, interdenominational world mission's fellowship. This organization was founded in England in 1941 and has its International Headquarters in Sheffield today. The purpose of CLC International is to make evangelical Christian literature available to all nations so that people may come to faith and maturity in our Lord Jesus Christ. To this end, CLC International has established literature works in over 55 countries of the world and is expanding every year into new areas.
  • CLC International functions as other evangelical world missions organizations do, but has several unique differences. CLC International plants literature works (bookstores, bookmobiles, translation work, publishing/printing) rather than churches in the countries it operates in. CLC International works broadly to serve the entire evangelical community and therefore has workers and materials that are from various denominational perspectives.
  • Urban Bookcenters: CLC International opens and develops Christian bookstores in countries where such facilities do not exist or may not be adequate. These urban bookstores are ministry centers where Christians can come for resources and seekers can find a listening ear or the right book or Bible to answer their question about life.
  • Initially, CLC International will send cross-cultural missionaries to start a work in a new area such as its current emphasis on the former Soviet Republics. The goal in this is to establish a viable and sustainable work that can be operated by a national staff in a reasonably short period of time. This means that our missionaries may work themselves out of different jobs around the world as these fields mature and become self-sustaining.
  • Our national workers do receive sacrificial salaries from these works, but are considered full partners in the International Fellowship. Today, over 90% of the CLC International fields are nationalized and several are sending workers cross culturally to start works in other countries.

[edit] Martinique

  • In this volcanic island CLC International operates a well-used bookstore which sells and lends books and tapes. Over 3,000 French Bibles are sold annually through the store. Pray that more local churches may see the value of Christian literature for spiritual growth and for evangelism.
