- The country is suffering from civil war and unrest. The country especially needs God’s healing touch. Since 1996 when a succession of wars and conflicts erupted, estimates are that more than five million have perished through disease, starvation and violence. This is a staggering and awful projection-more than five times the number who died in the Rwandan genocide - yet it scarcely gets any mention in the international media. It is estimated that still 45,000 people die every month, because of the unrest in the country.
- Congo’s war has embroiled the military forces of seven nations and provoked the rise of local inter-ethnic conflicts and warlords. Much of the country has become a war zone. Nearly three million are estimated to have lost their lives through war, violence, starvation and virtual collapse of the health system. Rwanda hunts down Hutu genocidists, Uganda exploits the wealth of the north-east, Sudan seeks to harm Uganda, Angola aims to liquidate UNITA rebel bases in Congo and Zimbabwe’s army is used to enrich its generals and politicians. A peace deal has been signed but the rebel groups have not disbanded (April 2008). Pray that international efforts to broker a cease-fire and peace agreement may succeed despite the entrenched vested interests that profit from the conflict.
- Please, may I urged you to pray for the Democratic Republic of Congo. There have been an onslaught of voilent along the Rwanda and Congolese border that has rendered hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Pray that there will be lasted peace in this war torn country and that there will be a resounding settlement of the desputes between the government and the rebels. Pray that aid agencies and other humanitarian actions towards the displaced and homeless will be hasten and safe. ()November 2008)

- Stimulated by the nation's calamities, there has been a large increase, involving millions, in commitment to prayer. The result is full churches and a hunger for God.
- Discipleship is a weakness in the church and needs to be taught at every level.
- In the Katanga province during the civil war many Christians left their faith and turned to witchcraft in order to fight their foes. There is an effort to reach the Luba through a Gospel paper in their own language.
[edit] Church and State Relations
