Dream Corners

We know literacy and education help people escape poverty. But we also know that in many countries children simply don't have access to books, educational tools such as board games or drawing paper and pens. In many of the areas we serve, children may learn to read in school but have nothing to read once school is closed for the day.

Dream Corners meet some of these needs. Dream Corners function as small libraries in some places, stocked with multiple copies of up to 40 culturally- and language-appropriate books. In other locations, they may act more like a children's activity center — CCF communities can modify the concept to meet the needs of the community.

Dream Corners mean a child in a remote area of Honduras may see a globe for the first time and see where her country is located (and where special friends like you live!) Or, a child in India may be able to sit at home and read kid's classics such as Pinocchio translated into their language and borrowed from a Dream Corner.

Many of the children served by CCF live in dangerous environments where war, disease and famine are part of daily life. A Dream Corner may be an oasis where a child can safely interact with children and adults or learn to dream about a tomorrow that is better than today.

In the long term, we hope these dreams will become a reality.
