Jahanka
From Missiopedia
- The Jahanka of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, The Gambia, and Senegal in West Africa of the people cluster Malinke number around 85,000 people. They are 100% Muslim. Formerly, they supported themselves through their activities as religious teachers. However, when they lost their slaves in this century, they had to devote more time to farming and less time to religious studies. Their Muslim tradition avoids the notion of jihad (holy war) in favor of pacifism. There are less than 10 known Christians worldwide among the Jahanka and limited resources in their language including a GRN’s recording. Outreach is occurring among the Jahanka and many are showing interest studying God's Word and knowing more about following Jesus. Pray for the Global Recordings Network (GRN) team as they make plans to reach them. Pray for other groups who are incarnational witnesses among hte Jahanka.
- Ask the Lord to send missionaries to share the Good News with the Jahanka.
- Pray that Christian radio broadcasts, evangelical literature, and the Jesus film will be produced in their language and made available to the Jahanka.
- Pray for the Jahanka and for more of them to follow Jesus.
- Pray that the wall of pride which keeps the men from studying the Word would be torn down and the Holy Spirit would work in their lives.
